Policies
GROUP RETREATS
- Overnight
retreats are given priority over day use
|
- Day use on a weekend can be reserved
only one month prior to desired date
|
- Day use during the week may be
made anytime
|
- Upon receipt of a completed
reservation form and a non-refundable deposit
of 50% of your estimated bill, we will confirm
your retreat date with a phone call. Balance
is due upon arrival.
|
- Group retreat rates are based
on double occupacy. The cost of a private
room (if available is $70) per night
|
- When booking overnight retreats,
groups must guarantee and pay for the number
of retreatants they have listed on the reservation
form. It is best to make reservations for the number of people you are sure will be attending.
Accommodations may be able to be made if your
group increases in size if there is not another
group coming as well. With two large available
meeting spaces, we must be assured that a group
will be as large as the reservation form says it
will be so as not to preclude another small group
from using the retreat center.
|
- A final
firm count of participants is required no less than
7 calendar days prior to your scheduled arrival.
|
- A one-time fee
per retreat will be charged for Conference Center
room use depending on the group size and need. This
fee will be either $225 or $130
|
- The basic
rate of $50/person/night includes room (double occupancy)
& 3 meals in a 24 hour time frame
|
- The fee
for group retreat participants who do not spend the
night is $32/person (Commuter rate).
|
- Any extension
of the 24 hour overnight retreat will incur a day
use rate as well as charges for extra meals.
|
- The Well
staff reserves the right to determine which large
group meeting space your group will be using when
you come for a retreat. We will try to take
your group's needs into account when assigning large
group meeting spaces.

|
INDIVIDUAL RETREATS
- Individual retreatants will have private rooms
|
- A completed reservation form and a 50% deposit
are required for us to be able to confirm each reservation.
|
- All retreat reservations must be made in advance
as we may not be able to accommodate unannounced
visits.
|
- Balance of payment
must be made with either cash or check as we do
not take credit cards.
|
YOUTH
RETREATS
|
The group sponsor is responsible for making sure
the youth are properly supervised by ADULT chaperones.
These chaperones are responsible for the health
and safety of the youth they are chaperoning.
|
CANCELLATIONS
- Due to severe
weather conditions, or other extenuating circumstances,
if we need to cancel the confirmed retreat, we will
refund all deposits or apply the deposit toward
another retreat date.
|
BED LINEN AND TOWELS
- Sheets,
pillowcases, towels, and washcloths are provided
as well as regular and electric blankets.
|
- When you
arrive, your bed will already be made. Before
you leave, please make the bed for the next guest
with the clean linen provided.
|
- We are
unable to provide clothes washing and drying facilities
to retreatants due to septic tank system limitations.
|
SILENCE
- We ask that you maintain
silence around the hermitages so that all may enjoy
the quiet surroundings. Please respect those
making a silent retreat.
|
- We may not chat when "bumping"
into you during the day -- we do not wish to break
your prayerful silence.
|
SMOKING
|
There is no smoking in any of
the hermitages or the main building. When smoking
outside, please use the clay receptacles provided to
discard cigarettes.
|
ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES
AND FOOD & DRINK
- Please do not bring alcoholic
beverages unless by SPECIAL ARRANGEMENT with a staff
member of The Well when reservations are made.
|
- We ask that you do not
keep or consume food or drink in the hermitages
|
CHILDREN & PETS
- We do not have the facilities
or staff to care for children while their parents
are here for retreat or spiritual direction.
|
|
|
PRIVATE RETREATANTS
- Guests here for private retreats
will have their meals prepared for them at a mutually
agreeable time.
|
DIRECTED/GUIDED RETREATS
- Those making a directed or guided
retreat will have the option to participate with the
staff in meal preparation and clean up.
|
USEFUL THINGS TO KNOW
WHILE ON RETREAT
- Places to pray:
You may use any places that are unoccupied
except the small conference rooms. We meet
with individuals there.
|
- The Chapel is free for
your use as well as the outside grounds.
|
- Exercise: It
is good to get out and stretch your legs. Therefore
walk, run, jog, etc. anywhere you would like. When
you go into the woods in warm weather, please be
aware of where you step - creatures are about!
|
- Rising Time: Please
feel free to sleep as much and as long as you need
and/or want
|
- Musical Inspiration:
To avoid disturbing other guests, please use
earphones while in the hermitages.
|
- Library: Feel
free to use the library. Checking out books
or tapes is easy - see the signout procedures on
the library bulletin board.
|
- Nature helps: Binoculars
are available in the office. In addition,
bird and animal books are in the bookcase in the
lobby.
